Michael Carver (BA Hons, MA, PGCE History) has been a teacher of History for twenty five years at independent and state schools in the UK and overseas. He was Head of History at Battle Abbey School for twelve years where he set up the 1066 Schools History Conference for A Level students. He has also worked as a tour guide locally, in Oxford, London and overseas for many years.
Michael has a particular interest in battlefield archaeology and education having taken a Masters Degree in Heritage Management and is very committed to the teaching of medieval history. Having lived in the wonderfully historic setting of Rye Citadel for several years, he set up Rye History Walks to bring his interest and passion for Rye’s fascinating past, and medieval and Tudor and more recent history in general, to a wider audience.
