Mike Carver (BA Hons, MA, PGCE History) has been a teacher of History for twenty years. He was Head of History at Battle Abbey School for twelve years where he set up the 1066 Schools History Conference for A Level students. He has also worked as a tour guide locally in Oxford, London and also overseas for many years.
Mike has a particular interest in battlefield archaeology and education having taken a Masters Degree in Heritage Management and is very committed to the teaching of medieval History. Having lived in the wonderfully historic setting of Rye Citadel for many years, he set up Rye History Walks to try and bring his interest and passion for Rye’s fascinating history to a wider audience.

Our King Charles Spaniel Poppy sadly won’t be coming on the walks – she tends to spend her days barking too much at other dogs, swimming in the sea and chasing her ball (usually all three at once). Well behaved dogs are more than welcome, on a lead.
